Book Summary

16-year-old Emma McGlinchey and her best friends, Lia and Shar, are on the verge of beginning their junior year at the Catholic high school they're being forced to attend for the first time when Emma finds her late grandmother's book of shadows, a witch's spell book and journal. Naturally, Emma attempts one of the spells and it works, unlocking a magickal world she never could've dreamed of. Unfortunately, the glamour spell they cast to make everyone like them at the new school fails to work on a group of zealots who set about bullying Lia and Shar for being an openly gay couple. Meanwhile, a love spell they cast for Emma gets the boy of her dreams to ask her out, but the school guidance counselor comes onto her, too. Soon the girls are attempting to deal with the bullies, and put out the fires they've started, using other spells, but can they finally put things right or will catastrophe ensue? Read Emma's own Book of Shadows and find out in this urban fantasy today.

Michael Beaulieu's Books

About the Author

Prior to writing novels, Michael Beaulieu wrote 30 original screenplays, many of which he hopes to someday make as independent films. (His screenplay Do Not Disturb was a quarter-finalist in the PAGE Screenwriting Awards.) He wrote his first novel, Reckoning Daze, when he was an anorexic living in Los Angeles. Suffice to say it was not much of a stretch for him to write the satirical book from the point of view of an anorexic actress, Lindsay Harmon-Foster. While the way Lindsay views the movie business is often hilarious, her eating disorder is portrayed as nothing less than harrowing. In addition to writing novels, Michael is the owner and primary interviewer of Love is Pop (www.LoveisPop.com), a music and pop culture site, which he's now interviewing authors for. He lives in Dracut, Massachusetts, which borders Lowell, birthplace of one of his favorite writers, Jack Kerouac. His roommates are his cat, Mister White, and his turtle, Johnny Rocket. His next project will be a young adult, urban fantasy series about teenage witches called Book of Shadows.
