Ariana must adjust to the radical changes in her life, and struggles to balance her humanity with the beast within, in the midst of a hidden, war-torn world.
Mysteries unfold and tensions mount in this thrilling first instalment of Echoes of the Past.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters have real depth and the plot is unpredictable enough to keep you guessing but not so weird that you have no idea what is going on - I enjoyed guessing what might happen (and didn't get it right but I didn't feel misled). I couldn't wait to get to the end to see what would happen, but now I'm regretting reading it quickly as I miss it! As a previous reviewer noted, the book contains a good dose of mythology so it should please those who like that kind of thing, but I found it really accessible to those like me who are not well-versed in such topics - I think this is down to some great writing. I can't wait for the next book. - Rachel K.
I am a big fantasy fan, especially urban fantasy. This debut novel is a breath of fresh air but at the same time it is deeply rooted in mythology, religion and shamanism. Author is undoubtedly an erudite and has a great knowledge which makes this novel deeper than what you normally expect of this genre. The story is truly captivating and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping. H. Lyne's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a turbulent ride that they will never want to end. I couldn't put the book down and cannot wait for the second part!!!
Highly recommended for those who enjoy fantasy. The characters have plenty of depth, unlike this review. The plot is unpredictable and gripping. The story will keep you guessing while you follow Ariana on her journey into a new world as it unfolds before her. I look forward to reading Ghosts of Winter, and the rest of this series. - Martin
In Seeds of Autumn, HB Lyne introduces you to a world just like our own, but with an extra layer to it that most people aren't aware of. In a rite of passage for Ariana, the protagonist of the story, we are introduced to that supernatural layer, which is both thrilling and chilling, feeling like you're with her every step of the way, especially as events build towards the explosive finale that will leave you wanting more. - Andy S.
