Book Summary

Sali Terri and George Shooters—two rookie officers from the Galactic Guild—find themselves in way over their heads with political intrigue, working to ratify a treaty with the cantankerous locals of a small planet called Kili Wanna. Every time an agreement is about to be reached with the current emperor, someone kills him off, nullifying the planet's induction into the Galactic Guild. The madness ramps up when outside influences take the matter into their own hands and flood the podunk planet with junk food in an attempt to corrupt their simple lifestyle and force them into an alliance.

Humor flows from every minute of this satirical tale. The Kili Wanna Affair delivers on laughs and adventure that defies its genre.

FUN! FUN! FUN! Lovable good guys and great development of entirely new alien species. Just the right amount of sexual tension without any actual naughty bits, just enough to add another element of humor. The writing style reminds me a bit of Joss Wheedon's Firefly series (which, of course, is beloved by all) Excellent dose of mystery that's not predictable and will keep you guessing. I LOVED this book and I can't wait for more.

In the beginning of Scott A. Combs' The Kili Wanna Affair: A Galactic Guild Comedy, which is the first book in the George and Sali Adventure series, George Shooters and Sali Terri haven't met yet. Sali, dressed in his new Galactic Guild ensign uniform, enters the planet of Kili Wanna as the Official Military Liaison of Kili Wanna at a time of much rioting. He meets Bethel, an elderly Kili Wannan maid with a whole bunch of responsibilities, and is quickly put to work in the emperor's palace. Then he meets George, who is held captive by the Kili Wannans, and manages to free her by hiring her as his assistant. Together, they must try to get a treaty signed. Their mission, however, gets much more complicated.

Though Sali is obviously attracted to George, he tends to say stuff that makes George want to punch him. I had myself a whole bunch of laughs, but at the same time I was enthralled by the finer building blocks of Kili Wanna, the Kili Wannans themselves, and the conflicts that George and Sali were faced with. Combs' imagination must be a limitless universe itself because not even all the jokes and comedic scenes made me disregard his creativity. Having integrated hot dogs and funny acting cats among many other things that I can name, Scott A. Combs went and took stuff that people can connect with, added that creativity of his to the mix, and cooked up a science fiction novel that no one will be able to forget.

About the Author

Scott A. Combs, born in Ohio in the late 50s, is an artist, graphic designer, software engineer, and writer. He resides in Chandler, Arizona, with his family, one fat cat and his best little buddy, Maxine, an Amazon parrot.

Scott has been a fan of science fiction since a young child. Struggling with dyslexia at a young age, his desire to read motivated him to overcome this problem by finding his own method of speed-reading. In his early youth he could be found running wild with the other children on adventures throughout the rural landscape of Lexington, Ohio, generally causing mischief. However, not long after he was begging his parents to take him to the library to check out books like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Conan, Tarzan, and The Princess of Mars.

Today Scott's love for reading continues and he is the author of five published science fiction novels in three subgenres: comedy, adventure, and psychological thriller. Nowadays he is usually found in his den clicking away at his keyboard, confining most of his mischief to the characters in his novels. He is often accompanied by Maxine, who scrutinizes his latest work from her perch on his shoulder and often causes her own mischief.
