Publishing a book is one thing and getting your book to reach a wider audience while having an impact on your reader’s minds and lives will require you to consider all the constraints involved and to do the right steps that will go into publishing your book. One of those steps is to find book reviewers and getting reviews for your books. So the big questions that pops in your head is where to find book reviewers?
Finding Authentic Reviewers
Being an Indie writer so far you have done all the hard work yourself and you are going to self-publish your book, but it is important to start the marketing of your book before you even publish it. One step of book marketing that requires Indie authors to become involved with their readers to get their opinion about their novel is finding authentic book reviewers.
But why we need book reviews at all? And what is the meaning and the value of book reviewers for Indie Authors?
Book reviews are one of the things that will put you on a reader’s map, and bringing your written work into view of a readers who may have never seen it otherwise. So each book review is going to positively affect your introduction as a writer.
A new reader quickly identifies if your book is worth their time and money, just by checking your book reviews.
Reviews Sell Books
Mark Coker, the founder of Smashwords did a survey on How Ebook Buyers Discover Books in which he discusses that almost 7% of the readers browse books randomly. They will take a look at the reviews. Positive and candid book reviews written from authentic book reviewers are going to have exceptionally positive effect on the sale of your book and will absolutely help you build your audience of readers.
And another thing is that as you publish your book and your masterpiece hits the market it is important that it gets proper exposure and an equitable chance to reach the people that are not yet familiar with your work.
With that in mind, you may want to think beyond asking family and friends for authentic book reviews. I’ve ‘been there, done that’ and it didn’t work. Well, it worked to get me about ten or so reviews, but you need far more to make your book stand out to readers in your genre and as well as show Amazon that your reviewers love your book with their 5 stars.
Reviewers Make Or Break Your Book Sales
My take on this is that you need to connect with your readers before they even start reading your book and there are several ways to do that. First, having your manuscript ready, a professionally designed, catchy book cover in place and having positive & authentic reviews from several book reviewers.
The reason behind doing all this is that because of the time constraint involved. In today’s busy world many readers attempt to judge a book by its cover or in this case – authentic book reviews. The readers will probably take a look at the book they find appealing and would go straight into the reader’s reviews section to see whether it’s worth their time and money. And more importantly, whether they think they will like your book too. That’s what will be the make or break of them paying to buy it or download it.
So to get them into buying and reading your book you would want to have all these things in the right place. Now, assuming that you are an Indie Author and have to accomplish everything on your own, you might have an appealing manuscript and an eye catchy book cover already in place – all by yourself, but as far as book reviews are concerned you will definitely need to interact with other people as well and you will need authentic book reviewers to get honest reviews. Thus making it easier for the readers to discover your written work and to help them
connect with your writing before even reading the actual book - right at the time when they are about to make a buying decision.
