No One Can Tell You Who You Are Except You is a collection of short essays set to inspire readers towards embracing the authentic version of oneself. The introduction of this book sets the stage for this Self-Help genre by reminding readers that each person actively creates their own life blueprint whether realized or not. The author gently reminds readers to analyze ones experiences in order to break free of all that no longer serves our authentic being. Doing this work of looking within is in act of self-love that allows us to become closer to our full potentials. It is important to note that the author delivers this message in a soothing tone that encourages rather than condemns readers. This writing style allows this book to feel very supportive and welcoming at a time when many people believe they must strive rather than feel free to simply be. The short essays embrace topics involving self-inquiry, genuinely loving oneself, facing uncertainty, acceptance, and unconditional love. Readers explore such topics through the perspective of the author, whom shares personal experiences, stories, and opinions, all tying to our personal growth. A nice aspect of this book is that readers may opt to read the collection of essays in any which order. It does not need to be read chronologically. One might elect to find an intriguing topic from the table of contents and read whatever suits them best at any given moment. A selection of the essays end with a photograph that applies to the essence of its message. I found that these photographs served very nicely as pauses for reflection between the readings. This book is not for the reader that is looking for action steps to change their life. This book is for the reader that is looking to connect with other perspectives on growth and development in a free-flow way. The book provides a selection of essays with messages for readers to enjoy. This is great for the reader who enjoys broadening their standpoint and receiving new ideas about life. I find that this book serves for contemplation and is a nice and easy read that offers supportive words of wisdom. I really enjoyed the flow and tone of this book. I enjoyed its gentle approach to self-help. There are times when all we are looking for are some words to encourage us without trying to prove too much. This book provides such solace.

4.0 out of 5 stars An insightful and inspirational read
Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2021
Pagano's No One Can Tell You Who You Are Except You is an insightful collection of essays and exercises that encouraged self awareness and self acceptance. Pagano draws experience from her own life and shares them through her essays in a way that is very accessible to readers. Each chapter or essay focuses on a common topic that many people struggle with such as handling negative thoughts, learning to love oneself and forgive oneself for past mistakes. The positive messages that the book delivers are well suited for readers who have been stressed due to the pandemic, those who wish to improve their mental health, as well as those seeking to live their best life. And while the advice that Pagano provides is inspiration, at the same time it is very general and does not give more actions focused steps that readers can take toward self improvement.

Clearly this woman has done her own personal work. She is wise. I loved the short sections so I could just read one or two if I had a few minutes. After reading it, I want to sit with her and soak up her strength. My favorite parts are the anecdotes.

No One Can Tell You Who You Are Except You by Pier Pagano is a helpful guide to recreate your life. The essays each are short, entertaining, and easily digestible. They each touch on some of the biggest topics in the self-help world right now, with the author's experiences included in the mix.
I love how this book reinforces that only you can find your true path toward living your best life. Much of the advice is practical and beneficial. However, I wish it offered more actionable and direct steps people could take in each chapter
