KC Malone is on a four-week leave from the Navy when he arrives at his uncle’s beach house to find a beautiful woman pointing a gun at his chest. What the hell has he just walked in on?
Moriah Jensen is on the run from dirty cops and ruthless drug dealers. Fleeing Chicago after her family was murdered, she spends the next four months trying to stay alive. Using an alias, she bounces from town to town, state to state, struggling to stay steps ahead of the people chasing her.
As the two become reluctant, temporary housemates, KC offers to train Moriah to defend herself against an alleged abusive ex-boyfriend. But when her past catches up with her, Moriah has to decide between her love for KC and running for safety. To stay would risk both their lives. To run would mean leaving her heart behind.
This was a fantastic beginning to a new series and boy are the Malones hot. KC is all alpha and so are his brother Sean and Uncle Dan. He's on leave from the Navy and can't wait to chill out in Whisper, North Carolina but he is in for quite a surprise (thanks to his Uncle Dan). When he shows up at the beach house and Moriah is there and armed -- woo hoo do the sparks fly.
Such a great story and I love how everyone in the Malone family had each others' back throughout the book. And of course they are all honorable and willing to do the right thing. Can't wait to hear Sean's story and here's hoping Uncle Dan gets an HEA too. ~ C. Lisa Cochran
I have read all books by this author and she has never let me down... her stories drag me in, keep me turning pages and next thing i know its 6 am and i have been up reading all night!!
Can't wait for the next one !!! ~ Liv Riain
Book one in a three part series. I am not one who normally reads a crime romance. I fell in love with the characters and the story plot. The main characters were very strong and you were on both their sides throughout the book. Once I started reading, I could not put it down. Samantha Cole is an amazing writer and wrote them really well. This book could be read as a stand alone because there is no cliff hanger. If you read book one be ready to continue onto book two because it continues with Sean one of the other brothers. ~ Cyndi
